The Downtown Sidney organization is a coalition of public and private interests whose mission is to develop downtown Sidney as an essential nucleus for public and professional services and to build a unique center of opportunity for retail, commercial, residential, cultural, and religious activities. Downtown Sidney's director, Cindy Stangel, is charged with this mission. Downtown Sidney is a division of the Sidney-Shelby County Chamber of Commerce.

In addition to her job as Downtown Sidney's director, Cindy also heads up the Downtown Business Association and conducts bi-monthly meetings at which representatives of the downtown area business community discuss the well being of the downtown.
